i posted earlier about Gus’ commitment to defense as an offensive coach. While I get pissed about his decision making, I do try to look at how he is ramping as a young coach
—in his first 5 years, he has one 2 SEC West titles
-was runner up in National Championship
-consistent strong recruiting for 5 years, best AU has had. And very little attrition
-built a very strong and apparently stable staff
-even with his faults, he seems to be learning and correcting. Example is the LSU loss. He said it “would not happen again, that the foot would be on the gas”. That was what happened
-the defensive commitment.
I find it hard to think we can do better. I think the commitment to him is the right path and that it will get better and better. Who else, that AU could get, is a better option?
