** Glad game week is finally here. Washington has nine starters back on Top 10 defense last year. Good against run, fly to football, good secondary. Veteran QB, talented RB, eight starters back on offense. Big offensive line. Got majority of special teams back. Big challenge for us.

** Richard McBryde out for season with a neck injury.

** Joey Gatewood will not play this week with a thumb injury. Cord Sandberg will be No. 3 quarterback.

** Expects most of the freshmen on the depth chart to be on the field against Washington.

** Jamel Dean had a finger issue last week but expect him to be fine. Expects him to practice today.

** Aidan Marshall will be first punter out there. He's improved. Close race. Like that he's experienced. Chance Siposs could also play against UW.

** Sal Cannella is one of our most improved players. Seized the moment. Stidham has a lot of trust in him. Versatile player.

** Whitlow has a lot of mental drive, toughness, plays with an edge. Has respect of teammates. He's No. 2 RB and one of the top two kick returners.

** All three of the freshmen DB's on depth chart (Tutt, Sherwood, Monday) have earned that, expect them to play.

** On the No. 3 RB: Worm is going to do a good job and Asa Martin will be out there. All four RB's have a chance to play in opener.

** One of the main focuses in offseason was punt and kickoff coverage and field goal protection. We've improved in all three but got to show it on the field.

** Getting more consistency out of OL the last week. Going against our DL definitely helps you.

** Kaleb Kim is starting center but Nick Brahms is pressing right behind him. Brahms starting to get healthy, practicing for last two weeks. Brahms probably ready to step in if Kim was injured in opener, but will know by end of week. Kim has improved, gotten better.

** Feel confident in Bailey Sharp and Austin Troxell as backup tackles.

** Protecting QB and preventing negative plays have been an emphasis on offense. Will be a big key in game.

** Nick Coe has been consistent and really stepped up at Buck.

** Anders Carlson won the job, very talented. Have confidence in him, just needs to do it in games. Has a big leg. Don't be surprised if we give him chances from far out.

** Marlon Davidson is healthy now. Wasn't this time last year and never really got 100 percent. Playing good football now.

** On Jamel Dean wearing a club? "We'll see when it gets closer to the game."

*****THAT'S ALL*****
