Very unfortunate that Israel's current government is such a corrupt mess when they need the best leadership possible to get through this crisis. The level of incompetence that allowed this attack to be carried out is staggering. Even hamas appears to have been shocked they were able to penetrate Israeli defenses with little to no opposition and wreak death and destruction on such a wide scale.

Netanyahu's primary selling point for his extremist policies has been that he would provide unparalleled security. His security policy has proved to be an abject failure. Netanyahu openly supported hamas in an effort to keep the Palestinians divided and undermine more peaceful groups. In addition to the overall policy failure, Netanyahu's government ignored clear warnings from Egypt that this attack was imminent. The military was also spread out defending his settlements in the West Bank and not in a position to respond quickly or effectively to this attack.
