It's easy to arm chair quarterback and say we should have done this or that after a loss, but what do we really need to do?
We need to learn to move without the ball. KD was terrible on both offense and defense when it comes to movement. Simple things like follow your shot, get between their player and the goal to rebound, and stop standing and watching. He has a very high motor but several times on offense, he just stood out at the 3 point line after a shot and didn't even move towards the goal. Maybe he wanted someone to kick it out after a rebound, but had he moved towards the goal, he would have gotten the rebound.
Go with your hot hand. Broome was killing them and we still kept shooting the three. That's on both players and coaches.
Work on Aden's screen and roll offense. Their aggressive defense pushed him out and just stopped any penetration. He would be moving away from the goal. Shariffe was a master at it and Aden needs to emulate his game more.
The crowd really affected our shooting and we saw turnovers we normally don't see. CBM was noticeably affected early in the game. Aden and KD don't seem to be able to shoot 3's on the road so Bruce needs to address that. Put it in the game plan how they can work the ball inside more. Don't just let them keep shooting and being O'fer from three.
I was more impressed with Denver than in the other games. He showed more aggressiveness and I liked that.
In what universe do we want Lior covering Sears? Why? Liabilities need to be limited and Lior is a liability when covering fast guards.
If I'm Bruce, I go zone late in the game. Not our real zone, that zone defense we run where we run it until they adjust their offense and then we change over to man-to-man. Something to make them think instead of just bombing away.
We could have won that one, but we should learn from it too. It's a journey to get to March and our youngsters just took a step. We'll play better.
