Everyone concerned about Grimes should read this post from @Mr.Lima, but the Fabianich info is just as or more interesting (and spot-on):

"The last 2 former OL that Auburn hired as its Head Football Coach, worked out pretty well. Grimes would too.

Contrary to perception, successful recruiting isn’t about used-car sales techniques….sizzle with no steak. It isn’t about “going for it in 4th down all the time”; run-and-shoot offense or wittyy quips on Twitter or in a press conference.

Successful recruiting may include some of those but it by no means is driven by what gets fans excited. Good recruiters and a successful recruiting program demands an infrastructure capable of maintaining constant contact with your targeted players and a coach who relates to both the recruit and the people surrounding the recruit. Authenticity. Caring. Trust.

Auburn has been rebuilding the recruiting infrastructure decimated by years of inattention by Gus and restricted by compliance. Most importantly, Drew Fabianich is rebuilding this infrastructure to compete for the next decade. He must be kept. And in fact is more like the head of an NFL personnel department than anything Auburn has ever seen before. Identifying and analyzing talent constantly within his department with a constant eye on how to upgrade personnel.

The next head football coach will reap the benefits of this structure. JGT was not wrong last summer discussing the growth of the “recruiting department”.

The next next Auburn head football coach must be authentic and genuine. He must be able to communicate that caring to teenage players and to their parents/coaches/trainers. As long as he does that….he can be witty (or not) on Twitter, he can be funny (or not) in press conferences; but he must build a tough team.

Old OL coaches have no problems doing that part well."
