My boss has been a pretty good guy to work for but today he proved to be the least cool person I have ever met.Last week I asked if I could get off at noon on the day of the BCSNCG so that I could get my mind right before the game IYKWIM. I need a little time to pound a half case of Natty Ice before the kickoff so that I can get my head in the game. He said he would think about it and get back to me. I usually am supposed to work from 8am to 5pm although he normally lets me slide getting there 9:30ish most days. When I got to work this morning, around 10am, I was a little hung over and I did not feel like putting up with much sheet. It was not that bad of a hang over because I woke up and pounded a few. Hair of the dog and such.
As soon as I sat at my desk this morning my boss came strolling over. He informed me that he was not going to allow me to leave at noon the day of the BCSNGC. He said he would let me leave at 2:30 that day. It was the same time he was leaving that day. He even had the nerve to invite me to a bar and watch the BCSCNG with him and a few other Auburn folks. He said he would buy me a few drinks to help make up for the fact that he could not let me off at noon. This REALLY pissed me off because I really need a whole afternoon off to get shitty with my Natty Ices and I am also sure they do not serve Natty Ice at the uppity bars he frequents. I told him it was very crappy of him to not give me that time off and he responded that he thought he was being more than fair to let me off at 2:30 because Monday is the busiest day of the week for us. I told him he was a POS and a crappy Auburn fan if he did not let me off at noon the day of the BCNSCG. I tried to reiterate to him my need for the time off so that I could get my pregame drunk on. I believe my ritual pregame drunk is what has brought us our extreme good fortune this year. He would not budge on the time off so I told him either I get the time off or I quit. Needless to say I ended up quitting.
I was pretty bummed about the whole thing but I had to prove to him I was serious. Well let me correct that and say I was bummed until I got home and opened yesterday's mail. I opened what I thought was a Capital One credit card bill but come to find out it was not a bill at all. It was a letter from Capital One letting me know that they had upped my limit from $400 to $1200. YEAH!!!!! So did some quick math and deducted my maxed out $400 from the new $1200 limit and found that I now had an extra FREE $900! This gave me an idea. Screw getting drunk and watching the BSCNCG on TV I can now afford to go to Cali and get drunk and go to the CBSNCG. So today I went and purchased a ticket to the BCSNCG for $550 dollars. I started looking for flights today as well but DAYUM they are costly. I decided that the most cost effective way for me to get there was to book a Grey Hound bus ticket. It was still expensive. It cost me $239 which wiped out most of my Capital One money. Luckily for me my two children were given some cash from relatives for Christmas and i left them a couple of hundred dollars in IOUs in their piggy banks.
So I am heading to LA tomorrow morning. The bus leaves leaves at 7:45am and arrives in LA Saturday morning at 5am. I do not have a room yet but I am sure that I can find something after I get out there. If not I may hit some of you bunkerites up for a place to crash. I also thought I may go to a casino and just stay there. I probably will not get a room at the casino though. I figure I could just play the penny slots all night Saturday and Sunday instead of getting a room. I am pretty stoked at the idea of getting free Natty Ices while I play the penny slots. I may even hit me a jackpot so that I can fly home instead of riding the bus home. I really do not wish to ride the bus home because I may miss my pregnant wife's 8 month check up that is scheduled for Wednesday morning so wish me luck at the slots!
I am just so excited about going to the BSCGNC and meeting a few of y'all there. If you see somebody in a Jason Miska jersey at the penny slots make sure to stop and say hi!
