Let's assume that Jasper starts over Green and I'm not convinced that will happen, but just play along with me.
G - Jasper shot 34.5% from 3 pt range last year and averaged 15.6 pts, 3.7 reb, and 2.6 assists at College of Charleston.
SG -KD Johnson shot 38.7% from 3 pt range last year and averaged 13.5 pts, 2.8 reb, and 1.2 assists at UGA.
SF - Flannigan shot 33.8% from 3 pt range last year and averaged 14.3 pts, 5.5 reb, and 2.9 assists playing mostly out of position at guard or shooting guard.
PF - Jabari Smith shot 41% from 3 pt range last year in high school and averaged 23.4 pts, 9.5 reb, and 3.2 assists.
C - Walker Kessler only averaged 8.8 minutes a came last year for UNC, but when he played 20 minutes a game, he averaged 18 pts, 10 reb, and 6 blocks. He should get 20 minutes a game next year.
If each player in that projected starting lineup contributes what they did last year and does not change, that starting line up averages 84.8 pts, 31.5 reb, and 10 assists a game.
It also gets interesting when you look at the projected second team.
G - Green shot 36.4% from 3 pt range last year and averaged 15.8 pts, 3.4 reb. and 5 assists at EKU. He started last year.
SG - Cambridge shot 28.7% from 3 pt range last year, down from 34.2% the year before. He averaged 8.9 pts, 3.6 reb and 0.7 assists. He started 19 games last year.
SF - Chris Moore was very efficient when he played last year. He shot 40% from 3 pt,, averaged 2.8 pts, 2 reb, and 0.5 assists. If he averaged 20 min per game, his numbers would be 10.1, 7.2, & 1.8 assists.
PF - J Williams shot 32% from 3 pt range last year and averaged 10.9 pts, 4.7 reb, and 2 assists. He started last year.
C - Cardwell averaged 3.8 pts, 3.6 reb, and 0.5 assists while playing with a lot of energy. He shot 70% from the floor and averaged 15 minutes a game last year.
If each back up contributed what they did last year, they average 49.5 pts, 22.5 reb, and 10 assists. Some will get more minutes, others will get less.
Three of our backups started last year and Cardwell averaged 15 minutes. That is the experience and depth we need to compete at a very high level. If Cambridge is a weak link, Green can start and move Zep to SG. I don't see a lot of weaknesses considering how aggressive our guards are on defense. We have length inside and speed at guard and that along with experience can win you some ball games. WDE
