I'm planning on constructing a fire pit at lake martin and could use some advice. Do folks have strong opinions of circular or in the round designs vs, a short chimney with a raised hearth idea? I'll plan on a paver surround with raised stone seating to match either way and obviously the circular allows 360 versus a more 180 degree setup with the chimney idea. Do you think one is safer from a fire risk with embers as I do have two students at AU and it will be set up on a point with trees nearby. I'll probably have water run close to have a hose nearby.
