Perfect tone for the moment with Biden's central message focusing on his promise to be a President for all Americans who will fight as hard for the people who voted for him as those who didn't. His words stood in stark contrast from the message of "American carnage" we heard for the last 4 years. His tribute to the 400k+ Americans who have been lost over the last year was fitting filled with the empathy that is Biden's greatest strength as a leader. Many will choose to ignore Biden's message and maintain their loyalty to the outgoing POTUS, but let's hope those folks are in the minority.

If 10 years ago someone had written a screenplay with this scene, people would have lampooned it for being far too unrealistic. Our democratic institutions faced the most serious threat in our country's history over the last 2 months and thankfully, survived. The peaceful transition of power today was a defining moment in American history. Let's hope our country has learned a lesson and we will never find ourselves in this position again with the foundation of our democracy being attacked in such a pervasive manner.
