The Auburn win was improbable but certainly earned by a Defense which fought hard despite 4 inexplicable turnovers. I think any reasonable Auburn fan has to step back and realize that during the last 2+ years, poor coaching/recruiting (actually absence of both) has depleted Auburn's squad of real talent. This year, the transfer portal dudes were put in place in hopes it would help. It helped to a degree as our offensive line looks much improved. One concerning take away from last night is that Thorne at times had the same look in his eyes as did Clint Moseley (you remember him...the boy from Leroy). The look of fear despite the fact he's played three years of college football is of concern (maybe the portal players are mostly rejects -sans my man Bo Nix the obvious 2023 Heisman winner). Thorne most of the night exuded the traits of a true freshman. However, with that said, Payton did make an AUsome throw in the corner of the end zone to 6'4" TE Fairweather to score the winning Touchdown. Suddenly, even the most ardent Auburn fans are Fairweather Fans. That along with the defense's AUsome efforts (Asante gets the game ball in my opinion) enabled Auburn to be victorious. Unfortunately, we're going to take a few thumpings this year, but we will likely upset a few teams as well. WDE!!!
