Gus benched Jeremy Johnson in 2015 for Sean White. And it was absolutely the correct move.
Even Harsin benched Nix for Finley, in the infamous Georgia State game. And that saved that game. Can't give Harsin credit for much, but that one small decision was at least the right one. And it's crazy in hindsight, because obviously Nix is a way better QB than Finley is. But he was playing terrible that game. Probably was depressed that they replaced Gus with Harsin or something (don't blame him).
So yeah, unless Hank and White are just terrible in practice or something I think benching Thorne this game is almost a no brainer. Hell, even if he wins back the job and wins some games like Nix of course did that's cool. The benching can still very much help with that. Nix came back and broke the LSU curse, which was much needed. Just about the only positive that happened under Harsin I think.
Bench Thorne, might even be good for him. And if it's not, then oh well.
