Prior to coming to Auburn, Duke hadn't done much S&C training - at least nothing remotely close to top-tier CFB standards. He quickly gained weight after arriving at AU, shooting up to 230lbs, having access to all the food provided to players (something else he may not have had, prior to coming here) and going through S&C training.

I recall reading back in December about how Craig stated they wanted Duke to shed 10-15lbs of that weight and play at 215-220lbs.

This is essentially what is done to redshirted players during their RS season. You're not only having them build strength, agility, quickness, etc. but also optimizing their bodies by shifting weight around. Making them leaner in some areas and bulked up in other areas, in order to excel at their respective position.

For Duke, this offseason will be part two of the process. Part one was adding the S&C and nutrition he'd not had. Now, part two is fine-tuning everything to help him be a lean, mean receiving machine.

How much quicker, potentially faster (?), and more dangerous will this make him? Who knows. But the thought of a leaner, meaner, more optimized Duke Williams is an incredibly exciting prospect to think about.
