Does Thorne have any power as the QB?

I know it was New Mexico, but it seemed Hank had more authority to call audibles.

I just can't imagine Thorne would see there are 5 blockers against 7 defenders and think, "yeah. Let's stick with this".

Does he not have the same power to make changes or just not have the ability.
