Do the NIL payments matter if it’s a walk-on? Is there any rules about this?

I feel like this deserves its own thread. @MatthewJ blew my mind with a thought on the Shor commitment. There’s seems to be a real chance his “commitment” to Bama ends up being a gray shirt, or worse, a walk-on spot….

Which begs the question:

I’ve wondered about this. Could he “walk on” and then sign a deal with a certain suit store for the amount of a scholarship?

Regardless if this is the case with Shor, could it be with others? Is this the key to signing more than you are allowed? 25 signees plus 10 or so “walk-ons” with guaranteed NIL money from a suit store that is worth more than a scholarship? Can the NCAA do anything about this? Will they?
