@DM8’s UGA Game Analysis

Incredible transformation by this team over the last 2 games with Sharife on the floor. To say we are a completely different team now is the understatement of the century. After a tough loss to bama, going to UGA and running them out of their gym was exactly what we needed. Doing so while only hitting 5 from 3 makes it even more impressive.

After his 26 point first effort and going on the road, it seemed difficult to expect him to top that effort tonight. Sharife delivered with a monstrous 28 point, 12 assist double double. 54 points through 2 games despite being 1-12 from 3 is unbeilable. For the sake of keeping him for more than one season, we had probably better hope he never gets too hot from deep. @MattAU05 and I were discussing during the game that the closest comparison from an individual player impact in Auburn history we could come up with was Cam. Sharife is both a dominant scorer and he's making everyone else on the floor better. You see guys who are great scorers and PGs who are excellent at dishing assists, but rarely ever do you find a guy who does both things at an elite level. Have to assume he can't keep up this pace the whole way, but through 2 games, he is putting up Trae Young numbers from his college season.

Speaking of everyone else being better, every starter was in double digits tonight. The other guys are doing a great job of getting into position and anticipating the dishes from Sharife for easy buckets. Thor is really benefiting from the improved guard play. Double digit scoring in back to back games and 8 boards tonight is a huge step forward. His step back 3 in the second half was shades of KD.

Cambridge has struggled at times this year, but came through with one of his better performances of the year tonight to be our second leading scoring with 14 and 5 blocks. He was only 1/4 from deep, but managed to find other ways to score with Sharife finding him on a couple of oops. We definitely need him to be more than a spot up shooter, especially given he's only hitting 26% on the year.

This is going to be a fun rest of the season. Get Powell back healthy and we will be one of the toughest teams in the league when we have things clicking the way we did tonight
