The Jacksonville State game wasn't a memorable outing from an overall perspective, but it catapulted one Auburn player into the record books. Wideout Ricardo Louis caught 10 passes against he Gamecocks, which is tied for the fourth-highest total in school history.

Who is ahead of him? Willie Gosha caught 17 passes against Arkansas in 1995, Darvin Adams caught 12 passes in the 2009 Outback Bowl and the GOAT, Terry Beasley, caught 11 balls for 100 yards against Southern Miss in 1971.

INTERESTING FACT: James Crepea of AL.com noted today that 14 of Peyton Barber's 31 carries during the second half and overtime this year have resulted in first downs, which leads all FBS players. He's also tied for the FBS lead with 18 first-down runs.

ON THIS DATE: Auburn is 6-0 in games played on Sept. 14, which includes victories over Louisville '74, Southern Miss '85, Ole Miss '91, Ole Miss '96, Vanderbilt '02 and Mississippi State '13.

Some good ones here.

The 29-18 win against Southern Miss represented the second game of Bo Jackson's Heisman season; he finished with 205 yards along with a pair of touchdowns. His season total at that point was 495 yards and six touchdowns. Tommy Agee also scored twice in that game against the Golden Eagles.

The 2013 game against MSU was a dandy. The game was decided with 10 seconds remaining when C.J. Uzomah caught a touchdown pass from Nick Marshall to clinch the victory. The win snapped the Tigers' 10-game losing streak in SEC games.

Lots of birthdays today!

Happy Birthday to former lineman Ken Rice, who turns 76 today. If you don't know about Rice, you need to know about Rice. This Georgia native was a beast of a player on both sides of the line of scrimmage, a two-time All-American, a member of both the Georgia and Alabama Athletic Halls of Fame. He was on the Auburn varsity from 1958-60, twice being named the SEC's top offensive lineman (1959, '60) and once the top defensive lineman ('60). He was the first player ever selected in both the NFL and AFL draft. He spent seven seasons in the NFL and is on Auburn's All-Decade team. I say he's one of the 10 best players ever to wear an Auburn uniform.

Happy Birthday as well to former outside linebacker Antarrious Williams, who turns 33 today. One of the most aware and quick-witted players I ever covered, Antarrious playing alongside middle linebacker Travis Williams from 2002-05. They weren't the most linebackers, but those two guys always brought full intensity. Williams spent a large portion of the 2003 season with his left hand and forearm in a cast due to wrist problems. The trainers wrapped it in a sheath of foam rubber and he was able to play with "the club" as a sophomore. And he was surprisingly good playing with just one hand. Always classy, friendly, happy to be here.

We also wish Happy Birthday to former defensive tackle Timmy Duckworth (33) and offensive lineman King Dunlap (31), who still is playing in the NFL with the San Diego Chargers. One interesting note on King is that he's not the only member of the family to play professionally; his younger sister, Victoria, played basketball at Kentucky and spent time in the WNBA.
