It seems to me that when a HC lands a proven, thoroughbred coordinator, he's got to give maximum autonomy to both keep the guy happy, and get maximum results out of him.
So I wonder . . .
- Does Boom have free reign to talk to the mediots as he wishes (with appropriate "guard rails" on subjects to stay quiet on, as agreed upon by Gus & Boom)? If so, this may be our last, best hope in getting actual info on our team, but the real value would be in Boom enjoying what he does and not feeling treated like a 10 year old like Lame Kiffin under Saban.
- Does Boom have latitude to continue physical work with his D into the season? This one is trickier, as Gus would have to also offer up the 1's on offense.
- How actively will Gus utilIze Boom in AU's OFFENSIVE game planning? He'd be smart to test his plan against a) how Boom would defend it, and b) how Boom expects the week's opponent DC to deploy. This may cut down on some of the WTF outcomes like the UGA game.
Thoughts?
