Auburn assistant coach Wes Flanigan has agreed in principle to become Chris Beard’s top lieutenant at Ole Miss.

I am told Flanigan hasn’t signed anything yet, but I expect that to happen today.

Flanigan, who played at Auburn in the 1990s and is a graduate, returned to the Plains in 2018 as an assistant coach. Prior to that, he’d been head coach at Arkansas-Little Rock. Flanigan served there under Beard and took over as head coach when Beard left for Texas Tech.

Flanigan and assistant coach Ira Bowman have been the Tigers’ primary recruiters these past few seasons, so the pressure will be on Pearl to find an assistant who can bring value both as a coach and a recruiter.
