I talked to a guy in our area who talked about the destruction the hurricane caused. He said over 200 chicken houses were destroyed in central Georgia. He said there were white chickens running everywhere in Ambrose, GA and they wouldn't live in the wild very long. Most of the houses that were lost were 20 to 30 year old houses and the owners aren't going to pay the 650K to rebuild them. They would just take the insurance money and keep on with their existing chicken houses or do something else. I wonder what effect that will have on chicken prices?
