bought our son a “learner” vehicle, went w a 2019 Murano SV AWD, low miles, bought from a large dealership group here locally in Gainesville, Ga, paid a premium for the peace of mind that comes w a safe vehicle. Dealer stressed the car history, showed a clean car fax, vin was clean in quick search.
Turns out, vin/carfax was clean bc vin had been “reissued” by state of Florida.
Have spoken w a used car manager from another dealer, he advised speaking to an attorney before speaking w the dealer that sold the vehicle.
l am pretty pissed, as the dealer knew they were misleading my wife and son during the sales process, knew the vehicle was to be used to teach a kid to drive, knew that involved risk of kid making stupid driving error and being involved in an accident/not having skills to overcome a potential failure of vehicle during driving. Care more about punishing the dealer than winning a large monetary payout (I have dumped the car at a significant loss since discovering the issue, and yes, buyer was made aware of the issue). Have went through all the paperwork to ensure they did not slip in language that covered the vin issue.
Any advice is welcome here, want to cause the dealer maximum legal pain
