Let me preface this by saying I am in no way calling for HCHF to be fired right now. It would be a death knell to the program.
What I don’t get is all these people posting acting like we fire coaches every other year on the reg and therefore nobody wants to come coach at AU.
That’s bull shit. Since 1951, we’ve had Shug, Barfield, Dye, Tots, Tubs, Chiz, Gus, Haskins and Hugh — that’s 9 coaches in 73 years. We’ve had 4 coaches in the past 25 years — one we let finish a 3 - 9 season, one we let hang around way too long, one who any coach out there with a freaking mind knows should have been fired, and now Hugh.
So why all the nonsense of we have a reputation of letting coaches go because we are impatient/bad fans?
I honestly don’t get it. Seems to me like some of our worst AU football years are the times we’ve let coaches stick around for too long.
