Really thought long and hard about posting anything but I could use some Bunker love and prayers right now.

Just laid my Dad to rest in his home town of Griffin, GA. He loved Auburn only second to his Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. What's so terrible about this situation is that Dad was living a full and healthy life until a fall three weeks ago. All I can say to you guys with aging parents is MAKE them use a walker or cane. He was 83 but otherwise in great health and able to do whatever he wanted.

The neat thing about Dad is he didn't talk much about his past. He took advanced ROTC courses at GT and received his commission the day before his degree in Aerospace Engineering. A couple of years later, he put in for transfer to Redstone Arsenal because that's where things were happening. He once mentioned I would have been an Army brat if the transfer was not approved. He was going to re-up, go Airborne and get his Captain's bars.

Dad was a charter member of Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville and had a 40 year career there spanning Mercury, Gemini, Apollo, Sky Lab and the Space Shuttle. A couple of years ago, I asked him how often her interacted with Dr. Von Braun. Dad said they used to meet with him weekly and as needed on propulsion projects. My response was: "and you never thought to share that kind of stuff with us?" Truth is, he was just going to work and doing what he loved.

That man was my rock and my inspiration. Funny story (as I was a partier and general bum out of high school):
The day I graduation from Auburn, Dad said "I'm really proud of you son. I'd given you up for a $h!thead.". I still laugh about that one even though I'm a couple of Master's degrees past that day..........all because of him. That man believed in education. Another favorite memory was finding his GT transcript some years back. I took it to him and asked for an explanation on that "D" he received in Chemistry. Game. Set. Match......for that day.

Anyway, I'm searching for ways to express this bone-crushing tackle.

God Bless each and every one of you. If your parents are still around, get off the Bunker, call them and tell them you love 'em.

Peace,
Todd
