My little Jack Russell developed a mass on his back paw a few months ago. Biopsy results came back last week as Stage 2 Mast Cell Tumor. He’s 12-years-old and never leaves my side, so I’m looking for anybody’s recommendations or experiences with treating this type of cancer. We’ve already started him on a Benadryl regiment and it has helped his daily activities, but it only counters the histamines this type of cancer releases. It won’t help cure the cancer.
Our options are a pill treatment or a shot in the tumor. The pill is more of a chemo method and will probably make him sick. He’s already had 3 ACL surgeries and almost died last week when they did the biopsy and sent him into anaphylactic shock. I’m not eager to make him really sick.
The shot kills the tumor, but we risk aggravating it and sending him into shock again if the tumor dumps its histamines.
Any recs are very appreciated.
