At what age should parents stop monitoring children's cell phone activity? Or, should it ever be monitored at any age? Does it matter if the child is a boy or girl? Does it depend on child's maturity or track record?

I have stepsons who will be 18 in less than a month and are planning to join the military the day after their birthday. Websites and apps are blocked on their phones and access must be approved by their mother via Verizon before they can access (it automatically sends an email to their mother to authorize if it is a website or app that has not yet been previously approved). These boys are SENIORS in high school. I have two sons who are older and my policy was you have to give me your phone if I ask for it but only "spot checked" them a handful of times because not only did I trust them but felt it was important that they know I trust them.

Is my husband's ex supermom and I'm crazy or is she the crazy one?

I know everybody here has an opinion..... any topic, any day, even if not asked so talk to me....
