First of all, I want to thank all of you for your support for Tanner and our family. I’ve been a member of this board for 25 years and Bryan and I have been friends for over 20 years. I’m so grateful for the respect you’ve shown Tanner on these boards. I realize as a parent it can be brutal. It really is hard to read what people, who literally have no idea what they are talking about, speak negative about your son. But you guys are awesome. Thank you. From the deepest part of my heart, thank you.
About 2 months ago, Tanner decided that it was time for another stage in his life to begin. For a kid that has only known football, baseball, basketball and golf his entire life, well, it was more than difficult. I would say borderline depression for him. I just can’t stress enough how hard this decision was. 13 screws in your shoulder and back will help make those decisions. But it’s more than that. His heart was simply not all in and he decided to move on. Tanner took dual enrollment in HS so he is already a Senior and is going to law school after he graduates.
Even though he’d pretty much made the decision, with mine and his moms encouragement, he decided to enter the portal. He was contacted by over 40 schools…….some SEC, some ACC, and some others. Multiple baseball coaches that recruited him in high school reached out. He had good opportunities, but his heart was simply not in it. He didn’t even respond when Florida called, and I knew then he was done.
We had discussions with Auburn about a PWO, but in the end, he is simply ready to move on. I want to apologize to Bryan bc Tanner was pretty fired up for a while about playing at Auburn, and I told Bryan he was coming. So that’s on me. I know Bryan well. He will forgive me eventually.
Tanner has enrolled at Auburn. He loves it there. His dream his entire life was to go to school and play football or baseball at Auburn. Well, he is doing part of it. I hope you all will give him a War Eagle if you see him. I promise he will be smiling.
Again, God bless you all. War Eagle!
