Harsin is speaking at the Birmingham Bowl press conference. There could be a break in the updates as we're supposed to get Harsin on the side for 1-on-1's afterwards. Click refresh, will continue to update...

** The bowl is expecting to be near a sellout. Happy to bring a big economic impact to the Birmingham area. Auburn help set bowl attendance record in 2016. Can't be broken due to new stadium being a bit smaller.

** Dana Holgorsen says he vacations in Orange Beach a good bit and knows about this state a lot and the football that's played here. Excited about being in this game. This is a reward and a huge challenge. Known Coach Harsin for a long time, outstanding coach. He will do great things at Auburn and do it the right way. The SEC is the SEC and this will be a huge challenge to us.

** Now it's Harsin ... guys excited about coming here. We have several players from BHam. A lot of pride on our football team. Two great teams in this game. Always been impressed with Coach Holgorsen. Houston is a very good team, played for a championship. Big challenge for us. Our focus is getting prepared to play our best football right here in the state and play a good game. We want to finish with a win and enjoy that last opportunity to play as a team.

** Harsin says Bodie Reeder will work with the QBs. Working collectively as a group to come up with an offensive plan. Harsin didn't say if he would call plays but said he was more involved with offense. Eric Kiesau also playing a part.

** Holgorsen said they started to pay more attention to defense and how the offense can affect the defense about year four at WVU and changed up the Air Raid attack. What they do offensively makes it easier to play defense.

** Fair to say we're short in certain areas. Roger McCreary won't play. Zakoby McClain is out. Bro Hamm is out. Bo Nix is out. Shaun Shivers out. Elijah Canion, Manning, Tennison all out. Just a part of college football now.

** Want to be able to run the football and be physical upfront. Brahms also out with surgery on knee. There something to say about guys who haven't played much who will get that opportunity.

** Finley, Troxell and Council will all be healthy for the bowl game. All three have practiced.

** On the transfer portal, you're looking for guys that love Auburn. The portal has really changed the game. It's another recruiting opportunity. It's free agency. Anytime you're trying to be great at something, you have to be where your feet are. We're all going to go through rough patches and it's more valuable when you earn something. That's got to be extremely important to the players on the team. I think you'll be surprised how many guys that will stay, that are committed to their programs.

** On Bo Nix ... it's always a challenge to find the next guy at every position. Bo is an Auburn graduate and there's something to be said for that. It's important to the families that their sons graduate. He made a decision. At the end of the day, he's no longer part of the program. My focus are on the guys on the team right now. Like every position, we've got to bring the right guys in at QB. We're still recruiting, got the late period and portal.

** Wants to see Auburn play four quarters in the Bham Bowl like they did in the Iron Bowl with a different outcome. Every guy in that game laid it on the line. That's what he wants to see in the bowl.

** Enjoying helping out with the quarterbacks right now. The offense is operating really well within the staff. The key at OC is hiring the right person. Want somebody that knows the scheme and how we coach QBs and someone that will be elite in recruiting that position. Wants someone that will bring out the best in all the coaches on offense. A lot of interest. It's a manner of finding the right one. (Editor's note: He's found already found him).

** Dee Davis is getting reps now, which is good. When you're not the starter or backup, you don't get many reps. He's getting more now. That's what bowl practice is about. Tar'Varish Dawson, Garner Langlo, Colby Smith also getting more reps now. It's good to see more from these guys for now and going into spring.

** Jalil Irvin will be getting more opportunities, Colby Smith and Brenden Coffey on the OL. Chandler Wooten, Wesley Steiner, Cam Riley getting more opportunities at LB. Owen Pappoe is out there getting work at practice.

** Will get guys a few days off this weekend. Will be here through Christmas. Will narrow down who is playing then.

*****THAT'S ALL*****
