President Gogue is up first...

** War Eagle he opens. Really, really a great day in life of AU. Thanks to Allen Greene, we aimed high and hit high. Thanks to the many AU supporters out there. Excited to have new football coach.

** A Greene and his team worked hard.

Allen Greene is next...

** Happy Holidays. Thanks the committee and even the trustees.

** Found the character traits we wanted from new head coach.

** High level of interest from college coaches, coordinators and NFL coaches.

** Had a number of conversations with Harsin throughout process. Q Riggins talked a lot of ball with him. From first conversation about five years ago at an event, chance meeting in a pool, remembers thinking how much he liked him and his wife, Kes.

** Thankful to have him here and that he wants to take Auburn to new heights.

** Bryan Harsin is a winner. Has won conference and division championship. He knows how to win. Has third-best winning percentage behind two coaches that may play for the national championship.

** Harsin talks about character development. He's a demanding competitor. Ready to take on the SEC. Also a kind man. When you talk with him, genuineness comes out. Looking forward to him bringing more memories to Auburn.

Bryan Harsin is up...

** Wearing and orange and blue striped tie. Opens with a War Eagle. Thanks everybody for being here on Christmas eve. Exciting day. Means so much to be standing here as Auburn's football coach.

** Special people within this program and we plan to do special things along the way.

** I am about family. Wife and one son (high school age) are here with him. Met Kes when he was 14, been married 20 years.

** This decision was simple. She was excited about it. Felt like this would fit their family. Kids all gave thumbs up. Family all wanted to be a part of this. Talks about starting out in father-in-law basement rent-free trying to figure out where they were going.

** Remembered that conversation in the pool when he started reading Allen Green's bio. A reminder that you get one shot to make a first impression.

** Wants to build/continue tradition of excellence. No days off.

** We want to win championships and want to do it with class, integrity and academic excellence. We will win and do it the right way. The players will enjoy this journey with us.

** Told team football is a developmental game and so is life. That goes to everybody in and around program. Wants it cemented with everybody. Will do that every single day with a 4th and 1 mindset.

** Went through four head coaches as a player at Boise State. Told players he knows what it's like to go through this. No other program except Auburn that could pull him away from Boise State. I bleed blue and always will.

** Prided himself on having real conversations before games with players at Boise. News travelled fast on his hire. Got a chance to address them the next day in Zoom meeting. Will continue to support them and the next head coach there. Left on good terms. Once a Bronco, always a Bronco.

** Has worked with amazing coaches that invested in him. He's still in opening statement ...

** Why Auburn? It's the people. Did research, read creed. Could tell it's all about the people. The creed fits what he believes in and who he is as a coach -- mentions parts of it. It all fits, things he's been preaching as a coach.

** No bigger platform than Auburn football. Followed Auburn, seen what it's been able to do. Bo Jackson came to Boise in 2019 and spoke with team. Our players knew exactly who Bo Jackson was, stayed about an hour and 20 minutes. Was an incredible experience. Shared the message of Auburn University and being the ultimate competitor. Wrote on board and it's still there today: Do something better today than you did yesterday.

** Still in opening statement. No questions yet. Understands expectations and what it will take to win championships. It's going to be challenging, but isn't that what you want as a competitor. You say it all the time to your players. Part of why this job was so attractive.

** Reaches out to players via Zoom. Got a chance to address them. Message to them was letting them know about who he is and his family and why he chose Auburn. Told them to come and and focus and work hard when they get back on 26th for bowl game. The whole goal of playing in a bowl game is to win it.

** Plans to be at bowl game. Supports them and their coaches.

** The 2021 class, focusing on recruiting. Gonna go all over country to get best of the best. Guys from West coast will want to be here but gonna start right here in our backyard to bring in the best players.

** Staff will be big part of recruiting. Dad is a drag racer. If you're going over 200 mph, everything has to work right or it's not going to go well. Takes patients to build car. Critically important to get right people in here and one that understand what Auburn stands for. Going to recruit ability in all phases, everybody in program. The ones that are already here deserve to get the very best we've got right now.

** Ends with a War Damn Eagle. We've made it to Q&A's.

** Asked about Iron Bowl? Start me out with the easy one, right? Every single game we play, every practice is important. If it's not, then you get in moments like that and it's too big. Gonna focus on spring ball, weight room, nutrition and game one, in order to play well in games like that. We will embrace the past and attack the future. Coach Saban has done a tremendous job, nothing but respect for him and looking forward to competing against him.

** Excited about the opportunity to compete in recruiting. Have to be committed to it and have these players see how they fit in your program. Talent part is important but got to have a plan to help these players develop. Got to have guys that are willing to do work to develop themselves in football and life.

** Have an opportunity to go after the very best at Auburn.

** Year one goals at Auburn? No. 1 win today. After this is over going to enjoy Christmas with family. Then I will work to put things together. Current players are No. 1 priority. Work on surrounding himself with great people.

** Had a chance to Zoom with current staff. It was brief but had a chance to talk to them. It was simple, asked them what he can do to help and support them and help them prepare to beat Northwestern. Plan to speak with them personally in the coming days. Transitions can be hard on coaches and families. Told them to go be with family and enjoy Christmas right now. Will work on building staff after Christmas.

** No shortage of interest from coaches that want to be a part of this Auburn program. Getting message from people he doesn't even know. So much interest and excitement and people that want to be part of this program. Going home to be with family for Christmas and then start building staff.

** Hiring process has been a whirlwind. The first time he talked with Allen, everything was 100 percent on-point.

** He knows what Auburn is about and excited to learn more. This is what he wants to be a part of and what he wants his family to be a part of. Wants fans to be proud of this team on the field and proud that he's the head coach. It is never given, always earned. That has to be our mindset everyday.

** Merry Christmas everybody.

*****THAT'S ALL*****
