** Mississippi State beat Tennessee good the other night. Came back from 19 down. UT was one of the hottest teams in the league. Really impressive.
** Crucial game for Auburn to win. Auburn's RPI is down to 63. MSU is in the 100's. Can't afford a home loss this late in the season.
** Really impressed with MSU freshman PG Lamar Peters. Great matchup between him and Auburn's two point guards.
** It's unusual for a young team to be playing better on the road. But there are fewer distractions on the road, more structure. Bunch of players have 8 a.m. classes on Tuesday and they don't play until 8 p.m. That's a long day.
** Great getting Danjel Purifoy back and playing better. Same with Bryce Brown. Wants Purifoy and Brown to let the 3s come to them and not go hunting for them.
** Play better when they have a lot of guys contributing.
** Horace Spencer is better. Undergoing further treatment and tests. Should know more about his status later tonight. Questionable for MSU game.
** Rebounding continues to be an emphasis in practice. Anfernee McLemore has been our best rebounders. Great teammate. Just wants to win. He's got a little chip on his shoulder.
** Purifoy had a hard workout with trainers last Thursday and gave him confidence that his ankle was 100 percent. He was engaged at Alabama.
** Austin Wiley is getting more attention. Tennessee was physical with him, a lot of flopping going on. Got in foul trouble against UT and Bama. MSU will be a good matchup for him. Team has got to do a better job of adjusting to getting him the ball.
** Jared Harper is a hard-working, dedicated, disciplined student-athlete. Wonderful to see that effort and focus rewarded being named SEC Freshman of the Week.
** Pearl comments that Mustapha Heron hasn't been named SEC POW yet despite being their best player.
** Shouldn't undersell the Auburn-Alabama rivalry in basketball. Both games were sold out this season.
