** We spoke to Danjel Purifoy first. He was supposed to be out for five weeks with his initial ankle injury but returned in two. He was also supposed to play 10 minutes against Alabama but played 29 instead. He said his ankle felt good afterwards. Expects to be back in the starting lineup soon.
** Pearl should be coming shortly.
** Harris and Amy Hadler had their second son last night, everybody doing well.
** South Carolina will be as good an environment and as tough a matchup as they've faced all year. They play physical on offense.
** South Carolina guard Sindarius Thornwell is a very good player. Can play on next level.
** Have to handle South Carolina pressure and not turn ball over. Have to buckle chinstrap. Will deny all first passes, nobody in league does that. "It's like blitzing every down."
** One of his better weekends at Auburn, beating Alabama, getting Danjel back, watching Austin Wiley play so well. Played really well last eight minutes of game. Crowd was great and everybody experienced a lot of joy in the postgame. Knew they needed those wins.
** Pearl had a lot of family and friends here and it was fun to share it with them too.
** Pearl didn't know what Charles Barkely and Austin Wiley talked about before the game, 'but it won't be there last conversation."
** Bryce Brown gives us a good dimension. Can match up against other guards and they have a hard time scoring. He's shooting better now, which opens up things for the whole team. "We're better with Bryce on the floor."
** Great to get Purifoy back. Yelled at him more in that game than all year. Expect so much from him but know what he's capable of. Just need to build off this one. Can do a lot on offense and guard multiple positions on defense.
** Pearl was told initially it would be 3-4 weeks for Purifoy. The reason was because he had so much swelling. But he responded to treatment well and swelling went down fast. Was pain-free for a week before playing against Alabama. Probably could have played him against LSU.
** Ronnie Johnson real calming effect, playing with confidence. Willing to make plays defensively. Didn't turn it over against Alabama and is money from the foul line. Him and Jared Harper are both effective off ball screens.
** Anfernee McLemore was sick before Alabama game, had to get an IV, but still played.
** Tough stretch of road games coming up against South Carolina and TCU. Tennessee will be tough at home and then it's on the road at Alabama. It's also a good opportunity. South Carolina and TCU are both top 30 RPI teams.
** Have a chance to compete against this schedule now. Last week, we didn't.
** Pearl sees Mustapha Heron being a Sindarius Thornwell soon.
** Auburn has to start well on the road.
