We're talking to BP as he previews Richmond:

  • Opens up by mentioned that Auburn hasn't had a home game in 20 days, but with the way Auburn's fans have traveled, it hasn't felt noticeable
  • Also is complimenting Jon Scheyer and Duke's talent. Y'all don't care about this so moving on
  • "Our transition defense let us down. You go to Duke and score 78 and shoot 45%, you have a fighting chance to win."
  • Mentioned that Duke was more physical than Auburn and it's why it got to the line more
  • Pearl said that no one will run 5-out better than Richmond
  • Pearl said that the team came in yesterday during an off day to get the Duke game behind them and move on
  • Pearl is encouraging fans to stay after the Richmond game and watch the women's team since they won't be clearing the building
  • Asked about Tahaad maybe being added to the starting 5, Pearl said that the starting 5 has been, analytically, the best lineup in the country and he doesn't want to mess with that. He said that Tahaad can play starters minute and the reason he didn't play late was foul trouble and that Auburn got stops without him. He also added that Auburn had good looks that just rimmed out and that the Tigers wanted a bigger lineup
  • Also added that Tahaad will play more point guard (RIP JP... he didn't say that. But.)
  • On the bad transition defense, he said there were a lot of times when Auburn was playing 5-on-4 because it wasn't executing offensively. He also added that the guards weren't stopping the ball
  • Asked about Sonny Smith, Pearl said that he had Smith speak to his team at Southern Indiana.
  • "It's amazing how far Sonny will travel for $500." (This is obviously a joke)
  • Pearl said that Sonny never "jumped off the wagon" early in the Pearl era and was able to explain to fans that it was rebuild
  • He's asked about other players provoking Chad, Pearl said that the best way to explain it to him is that it's what he does to opposing players.
  • Asked about Tahaad being a big game player: "He's a Jersey point guard. Sharife Cooper was a Jersey point guard... they grow up fast. They played at Rucker Park... they're not afraid."
  • Pearl noted that Duke is a team that many have said needs more experience, but because of how good the SEC is, his team still has to as well.

That's all for Bruce
