We're talking to BP as he previews the SEC Tournament
- Started off by congratulating Tennessee on the SEC title and saying he was impressed by his team winning 13 conference games
- Congratulated Aden Holloway for making the All-Freshman team. Mentioned that it's rare for freshmen to have an ast/tov ratio like he had.
- Shouted out Jaylin Williams for making All-SEC. "Jaylin's stepped-up play is a factor."
- Mentioned that the team exceeded his expectations
- On Johni: "Every year he has been in college basketball he has accomplished things."
- Pearl mentioned that he challenged Broome to become better defensively which he did
- Pearl on the SEC Tournament: "We have to prepare for three teams." Mentioned that they played well against all three of the teams.
- "I imagine whoever we'll play, it'll be a lot closer this time."
- On having to prepare for multiple different teams: "We have three different coaching teams that are scouting. As coaches, we are really working on a game plan." Pearl mentioned that the players are working on themselves as a team and that he won't mention a scout until Thursday.
- Pearl on his pgs: "Both Tre and Aden have taken great care of the ball... but they both are threats to score."
- Pearl on teams that can make a run in March: "I think the most dangerous teams are the underachieving teams." Mentioned he won a title in 1995 on a team that underachieved in the regular season.
- Mentioned that in 2019 they finished fifth in the SEC and felt they were better than that
- "When you're playing your best basketball down the stretch, that matters. And we're playing good basketball."
- It's been a decade since BP was hired: "I was very emotional that day. Extremely emotional... grateful for Dr. Gogue and Jay Jacobs and the board for letting me get back into coaching. I just remember telling the Auburn family what was in my heart. Glad I'm still here. When I do speak to the tip-off club I say 'war eagle' and then say 'I'm still here!'"
- On Johni Broome: "When he first went in, I really think he was thinking about coming in. But when he went to that G-League combine and then went to the actual combine, he belonged." Mentioned it gave him confidence but since he wasn't given a draft guarantee, coming back was the smart decision.
- Bruce out of context: "Nashville's going to be lit."
- On talking to his guys that haven't played in the SEC tournament: "I actually think that's something players will talk about themselves."
- "You step up, you stay. You don't, you go home."
