** Excited about playing in the Legends Classic in Brooklyn. Playing Notre Dame in N.Y. is like a home game for them. St. Bonaventure is also in N.Y. We knew this could be a hostile environment.
** Made a lot of really good plays to hold SLU to 16 points in about the first 14 mins. Our 2nd half defense has not been as good in first two games. It's something we're working on. It's a couple of years trend.
** Known N.D. coach Micah Shrewsberry for a while. They are well coached and so hard to guard. Have some really good young players that are going to be great as sophomores. He's a very talented coach and will do a great job at N.D.
** Letting players play their way in and out of roles and rotation. Right now, have two at every position with Lior Berman as 11th guy. Injuries and foul trouble through the course of the season will affect the minutes.
** Loved every one of Chaney Johnson's shots. Want him to keep taking those shots. Very athletic. One of our most physical players and needs to play even more physical.
** Tre Donaldson and Aden Holloway need to play better defensively. They're both working at it. It's an area we need to grow in. They can both shoot the ball well, but what matters is how they make everyone on the floor better when they're out there. That will determine who is out there more.
** We've always been 4-out and we've had some 5-outs historically. Been running more 5-out, which everybody in NBA is running. Thought it would enhance both Johni and Jaylin's ability. It's dropped off offensive rebounding percentage. Been a good compliment to our offense. I'm old school and it's hard to get me to change a ton. Has staff watching NBA and European basketball so we can tweak some of it and add it to our system.
** The rule change is going to change Pearl's recruiting. They are trying to cut down the number of collisions and block/charge calls by limiting the secondary defenders. Pearl doesn't like new rule. Makes at least a second difference. It's brought the driving and 1-on-1 game back in a huge way, which changes the way he's going to recruit. That helps KD be more effective.
