** The thing that jumps out to Coach Pearl is where we started when we first for here. We wanted this Auburn-Alabama basketball game to mean as much as the Iron Bowl. ESPN wasn't covering this game back then. It's good to have our programs where this game matters outside the state of Alabama too.
** If Alabama was in another part of the country, it would be one of may favorite teams and favorite coaches because of the way they play. Great team and great system. Biggest challenge of year so far.
** JD is one of best young guards in league. Their backcourt can make shots and are tough to cover. Four of the best guards on one team.
** Great game for Jaylin Williams against Florida. Every coach will gameplan to take out a team's best player, get him in foul trouble. It's happened to Jabari Smith two straight game. Combine Jabari and Jaylin's numbers and we've got the best 4 in the country. In this day with the transfer portal and Jaylin sees a guy like Jabari coming in, he transfers. Jaylin is an Auburn man and wanted to compete. His minutes have been cut back some but his contributions to this team aren't any less significant. He's an important player on what is potentially a great team. He can make plays.
** I think we've got great depth, really good chemistry. Coaching staff does great job in scouting. Team has stayed relatively healthy. Still have to get better and improve. The SEC is really good, matchups are important and you've got to bring it every night.
** Florida and South Carolina both defend the 3-ball well because of how they extend and press up. You've got to take what the defense gives you.
** It says a lot about the SEC that Missouri was able to beat Alabama. Missouri is a big, strong, physical team. They kicked it out and made shots they haven't made before. We're different than Mizzou. We guard differently. There's not a ton to learn from that game because we're built differently.
** Florida gave up 20 offensive rebounds to Alabama. UA has the toughest strength of schedule in country and has two of the best wins over Gonzaga and Houston. They do a great job on long shots and long rebounds. We have to do a good job of taking care of the basketball and getting back in transition. They play fast.
** Alabama's guards get after you. They do a great job with ball-screen defense. They're known for their offense because of how dangerous they are from 3 and from the rim, but they can defend as well.
