Hello!!! How were your holidays? Sick of the family yet? Tired of eating? Get everything you wanted?
We are set to chat with Bruce Pearl here in 10 minutes or so as Auburn begins SEC play against LSU on Wednesday in Auburn Arena. Please refresh for the latest updates.
BRUCE PEARL
- LSU is the No. 1 defensive team in the country. Field goal percentage, and a lot of other things. What makes them so good defensively is their length and great athletes. Do a lot of trapping and guards all 94 feet.
- Pearl says unlike almost every team in the country they switch everything, so its almost like a zone even in man-to-man. "It's something you just don't see."
- "It was our worse loss of the year." - On last year's game at LSU
- On challenges from LSU for guards Zep, KD and Wendell: "Their size and their length."
- "His emotions. He wears it on his sleeve." - On KD Johnson become a fan favorite. Says he wouldn't make much of a poker player.
- Pearl says LSU will fly at the first open shooter. Says team has been extremely unselfish when it comes to extra pass.
- On women's cancellation: "We are scheduled to play and I haven't heard anything else."
- "It was good to get a little bit of a break" - Pearl on the three days of no practicing.
- "Devan, his ability to defend, rebound and make open shots ... is a good thing, especially against a team like LSU that thrives on turnovers." - Mentions Cambridge's assist-to-turnover ratio being good.
- "They are different this year because their defense is their deal." - on LSU.
- Darius Days can beat you by himself, Pearl says. That will be Jabari Smith's matchup tomorrow. Says he feels like Days has been playing in SEC forever.
- Efton Reid is a mismatch at the 4-5 due to his size (7'0)
- Pearl says this is the best team LSU has had under Wade, mentioning Justice Williams and Mizzou transfer Xavier Pinson.
- Flanigan did fine. Had a good practice last night and expects him to play more tomorrow.
- "It will be as good as it gets all year long." - Pearl's closing statement on LSU-Auburn
