OPENING STATEMENT: "We once again find ourselves where I'm going to talk up an opponent and you're going to roll your eyes ... and I'm going to do it anyway."

• "They're coming in playing well." (They've won three of their last four.)

• He's a big fan of Jeremiah Fears, Oklahoma's point guard. Pearl said Auburn was recruiting the kid aggressively at Peach Jam last season thinking he'd be a Class of 2025 kid. "He reclassified and went to Oklahoma. That was a done deal. Wow."

• "He chose Oklahoma over us."

• He's also a fan of Jalon Moore, the former Georgia Tech power forward who is now at OU. "He's having a great year."

• "They shot 73 percent in the second half of their last game against Vanderbilt, so they're coming in hot."

• Oklahoma is No. 38 in the NET ratings. Pretty good.

• Pearl has concerns because OU has three guards who can drive — like Ole Miss did with Pedulla last weekend.

• On changing the practice facility plan. He's happy to see the arena get upgraded. He would like to have a stand-alone practice facility. "When the NIL came in at the same time that our ... practice facility was approved ... I said: I just don't think we can do this right now, or if we should do this right now. So much of it was going to be on our donors and advertisers ... to then ask them at the same time for a brand new, state-of-the-art practice facility."

• He credits Dylan's rebounding and Johni's ability to score and Ole Miss' switching ... for the Tigers being able to score like mad last weekend. "Our guards made shots. It took a tremendous shooting performance to win a game on the road at Ole Miss. That's what it's going to take every night."

• On OU coach Porter Moser: "They're going to play hard ... and they're going to play hard every possession. They don't take possessions off. They mix in some pressure. This Oklahoma team is defined by their offense."

• He thinks Oklahoma will focus on defensive rebounding and getting out in transition Tuesday.

• On not getting Pedulla'd again. "I ask players all the time: 'Who has the ball?' The answer is that everyone has the ball. I would say that against Ole Miss, we didn't guard Pedulla like everyone had the ball."

• He says that Chad Baker "easily could be my point guard" ... while simultaneously praising the work Tahaad has done at point guard. "I'm playing him at a position I didn't recruit him to play."
