BIG CAT NOTES

* The majority of recruits attending Big Cat are expected to arrive Saturday morning. A few will begin trickling in Friday afternoon. Auburn is expecting around 35-40 to attend.

* Four-star safety Nick Cross is one of the few expected to arrive on Friday. Cross, from Dematha in Hyattsville, Md., will be on an official visit. He will be the only recruit on an official visit this weekend, according to a knowledgeable source.

* Some of the activities scheduled for Saturday include a scavenger hunt, cornhole, eating contests, basketball and a Family Feud-type game.

* One big change this year is that schools can now (as of last August) take unofficial visitors within a mile off campus. For you ouldes, this would have been huge for Auburn during the first BIG CAT in which the Tigers were penalized for taking the visitors to Toomer's Corner. The NCAA now allows that.

* Hattiesburg (Miss.) four-star defensive end Jaren Handy already is in Auburn and will stay through the weekend. Handy’s father, mother and two brothers are in town, too. They arrived on Thursday and will stay until Sunday.

* There will be recruits committed to other schools at Big Cat, some of whom I’ve already listed on the preliminary list: five-star receiver Jadon Haselwood (Georgia) and four-star defensive end Charles Moore (Mississippi State). Four-star athlete Trezman Marshall is another Georgia commitment that could be has been added to the list. Marshall arrived on Auburn's campus around 1:15 p.m. CT. Travis Williams was there to greet him. HUGE news for Auburn.

* Auburn will be without one of its top recruiters and commitments this weekend. Bo Nix, who is ranked the No. 1 pro-style quarterback in the 2019 class, is in California competing in the Elite 11 Quarterback Competition.

* Another commitment who won’t be able to attend is four-star cornerback Jaylin Simpson. He and his teammate, four-star athlete/safety Jashawn Sheffield, both will be taking the ACT.

* Both of Auburn's 2020 commitments will attend Big Cat on Saturday. Andy Boykin is studying for the ACT in the morning, but plans to arrive in Auburn around noon. His teammate and fellow Auburn commitment, four-star WR Kobe Hudson, already will be on campus. Hudson is scheduled to arrive around 9 a.m. CT.

* Cardinal Gibbons (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) four-star Khris Bogle will be in Auburn on an unofficial visit. He's ranked the No. 3 weakside defensive end in the 2019 class.

* Louisville (Miss.) four-star defensive end Charles Moore and family have arrived in Auburn for Big Cat Weekend. Moore is committed to Mississippi State.

* A 2020 offensive lineman that is expected to visit is Tate Ratledge from Rome, Ga. Auburn has offered and is very high on this kid. Auburn, Tennessee, Georgia and Alabama are believed to be his top four. He grew up a Tennessee fan (his dad is a big Tennessee guy), but the kid likes Auburn, too.

* Plant (Tampa, Fla.) four-star guard Will Putnam is returning to Auburn on Saturday after first visiting in March. Putnam will be joined by his mother on the visit. Putnam's father, who visited Auburn in March, will be at Oklahoma State this weekend watching his oldest son wrestle. Putnam was very impressed with his visit in March and Auburn hopes to top that this weekend.

* Hueytown junior running back Roydell Williams will be in Auburn on Saturday. Williams arguably is Auburn’s top running back targets in the 2020 class. Williams’ parents also will make the trip. It will be a good opportunity for Auburn to get a jump on its 2020 RB recruiting.

* Gulfport (Miss.) DE/LB Derick Hall and family just arrived in Auburn. Hall was greeted at the front by area recruiter Marcus Woodson. Auburn is very high on Hall as a buck linebacker and he's high on Auburn. The Tigers could cement themselves at the top of his list this weekend.
