On December 18, 2021, Larry Steve Simmons and seven other people, all under the age of 18, broke into an 87-year-old woman’s home, according to the South Georgia Judicial Circuit. All of the defendants were charged with the following:

- Home invasion
- Two counts of criminal attempt to commit a felony (malice murder and armed robbery)
- Aggravated assault
- Exploitation and intimidation of a disabled adult/elder person
- First-degree burglary
