What’s up Bunker, big game tonight and I hope Bruce has the guys ready to go.
So I will get to the point quickly and revisit what got me to today. So had microdiscectomy in Oct and returned to work mid November. I wear a bulky brace 18hrs a day and ended up sneezing while in bed in last December, It felt like I got struck by lightning. Finally got back into dr and my mri revealed the extrusion is back bigger than before the surgery at 22mm. Talk about frustrating!
10yrs ago had the l4/l5 microdiscectomy laminectomy on the right side and it’s been good.
Oct 6th left side l4/l5 microdiscectomy laminectomy and it blew out in less than two months.
Dr offered another discectomy, but afraid to go that route if the failure rate is the same. Have read mixed reviews on disc replacement. So fusion is an option but curious how people did with it and did it quickly impact your other disc from taking the beating?
I had the neck fused about 12yrs ago so I’ve used the same spine DR. Dr Wade is with Summit at Grandview and I used him years ago also at Alabama ortho. I really like my DR, but I am going to get at least three opinions before I do anything. A friend of mine has stated if I go fusion route I need to use a Neuro and not ortho/spine.
First opinion today from neuro was discectomy can be performed but could fail again. Best fix option is a fusion long term.
Thanks for any feedback and War Eagle 🦅
