Massive win in the national popular vote for Dems and the House is a blood bath. Looks like the total pick up for Dems will be 33-40 seats. This was one of the most favorable Senate maps ever for Republicans and had the 2020 Senate map been up tonight, it would have swung the chamber to the Dems as well.
Taking the House was always the only realistic goal and it has been attained. Dems will now have the power to block anymore ridiculous legislation like disastrously unpopular donor relief act or further attacks on the now popular Obamacare. I hope Dems will propose common sense solutions to the problems facing our country and there will be enough rational Republicans willing to work with them in a bipartisan manner. The right move, imo, is to draw a contrast with the way Republicans have attempted to govern the last 2 years as they made zero effort to reach across the aisle in their failed attempt to repeal Obamacare. Passing good legislation and putting Republicans in the Senate and Trump on the hot seat to refuse to consider it will show the country which party is functional and ready to govern.
Dems will also now have the ability to investigate Trump's many scandals which is going to be very important. In addition to Trump's myriad of personal scandals, his cabinet has been the most corrupt in recent American history. There has been zero accountability for this corruption thus far, but the American people have spoken and have sent Dems to Washington to drain the trumpkin swamp.
Thanks to all the trumpkins (especially @God Cam It and @HONKifUvCOACHED4BAMA) who blindly guaranteed the polls were all a democratic conspiracy and the Republicans would hold the House or even gain seats. Your predictions have been hilarious entertainment over the last few weeks and months. I hope you all keep it up as we watch the Trump presidency continue to go down in flames in the run up to 2020.
