If you ignore the rumors of a sex scandal, which I don't believe is true, and look at the facts, it is pretty easy to see that AU is doing what they have to do.

Auburn was made aware of potential abuse by Harsin regarding the way he treated players and assistant coaches. According to the law and University Policies, once allegations of abuse are reported, the University must investigate it. By all accounts, Auburn is investigating these allegation by meeting with players and current and former assistant coaches.

If Auburn were to ignore the allegations, Auburn could land in deep legal trouble. If you don't believe me, look what happened at Penn State with the Sandusky sexual abuse scandal. Penn St. was sued not only because of what Sandusky did, but because they turned a blind eye to it. They did not investigate it and take action. Penn St. paid somewhere around $100 million to settle those claims. Further examples:

1. University of Michigan just reached a settlement of $490 million to pay students who had been sexually abused. The lawsuit stated Michigan knew of allegations back when it was happening and failed to do anything to stop it.

2. Mich St. paid $500 million to settle claims of sexual abuse by Nasser. Again, it was alleged Mich St. knew about the allegations and failed to do anything about it.

3. Ohio St. paid $46 million regarding the same thing.

4. USC paid more than $1 billion to settle similar claims.

I know these are examples are allegations of sexual abuse not just abuse, but under the law, abuse is abuse whether it is sexual, verbal, or physical. Bottom line, Auburns has a legal duty to investigate allegations of any type of abuse and that is what they are doing. I do not know if the investigation will show Harsin was abusive or not but that is not the point.

I am not saying Harsin was abusive or not....only that once allegations are made, there is a legal duty owed by Auburn to investigate it. Investigation don't resolve in a few days. They take time.

Also, I am not talking about what the PTB are rumored to have done behind the scenes to try to get Harsin fired for cause, and for the record, who knows if these rumors are even true. My point is in regard to what Auburn University has done and is doing in regards to abuse allegations made against Harsin.
