Okay guys, let’s talk WR recruiting. With a preference for utilizing 12 and even 13 personnel (2 TE and 3 TE sets) quite a bit, Harsin’s ideal WR room typically has anywhere from 10 - 12 WRs on the roster during any given time of the season. With that said, accounting for the looming addition of Demetrius Robertson, that puts us at 9 scholarship WRs currently and only 1 set to leave because of natural attrition (graduation). So I don’t see this being a huge class at WR, probably a group of 2-3 max. So on that note here’s the board:

Darrius Clemons is an absolute freak show WR prospect that’s probably our top target at this time. Other teams involved are Oregon, Penn State, and USC. Highlights below for those interested:

Barion Brown is another talented WR that has electrifying speed. Currently Brown is projected to land at Alabama, but Auburn was one of only 4 teams (Alabama official, Auburn unofficial, TCU official, Ole Miss unofficial) to get this young man on campus in June, and Brown’s recruitment is one CWill has worked very diligently on behind the scenes. If Brown makes a commitment at the end of July as he’s rumored to be doing, then you have to like the Tide’s odds here. But if he doesn’t commit at that time and we can get him back on campus for an OV, well then maybe we have a real shot.
Highlights below for those interested:

Jayden Gibson is without question one of the most gifted big WRs in this years class, recently showing how good he really is by completely dominating at the Nike Opening in California this week. Combining a 6’6 frame with above average speed and hands, Gibson is just really fun to watch. A Florida legacy, Gibson is currently projected as a Florida lean and for good reason. However CWill got in on Gibson when he was an unheralded 3 star recruit earlier this spring and built a good relationship with Gibson that manifested into an unofficial visit last week. Look for Auburn to work for an official visit this fall, and if we get one, maybe we have a fighting chance. Other schools involved are South Carolina, FSU, Miami, Florida, and Baylor. Highlights below for those interested:

Explosive, explosive, explosive is what I see every time I watch Antonio Williams’s film. One of the fastest risers in the Southeast, Williams has got a who’s who offer list with the top contending schools being Clemson, South Carolina, Georgia, Auburn, and Ole Miss. Mike Bobo has done a fantastic job in getting Williams interested in Auburn and we’ll see if that interest materializes into an OV this fall. Highlights below for those interested:

Jay Fair is one of the top playmakers in the state of Texas and a top target for Auburn regardless of his 3 star ranking. The cousin of current Auburn player Daniel Foster Allen, Fair is a smooth route runner with above average speed and quickness. Fair currently has a top 3 of Auburn, Florida, and TCU. Highlights below for those interested:

Two other targets worth tracking are Juco standout Latreal Jones and Tennessee HS WR Kaydin Pope.

That’s it for the WR board, up next the Tight End board.
