Since we’re moving into a dead period, I thought it might be a nice time to review certain position grouping and what our board of known prospects appears to be. On offense I’ll be doing one of these for RB, WR, TE, and OL (no reason to discuss QB we’ve already got our guy). On defense I’m going to breakdown the position groups of DL and DB, but I don’t have enough info on Edge or LB to really discuss in depth (meaning I know some but not all targets). With that said let’s get to the RBs:

Trevonte Citizen is a gifted one cut runner that has excellent initial burst and accelerates effortlessly when in the open field. Citizen has a top 4 of LSU, Texas, Texas A&M, and Auburn, though most national analyst don’t see him leaving the state of Louisiana at this time. That said Carnell is working really hard here to make Auburn his end destination, and for good reason as Citizen is a big time player. Highlights below for those interested:

George Pettway is the most explosive back Auburn is actively recruiting in this cycle and it’s not even close. Pettway averaged 14 yards per touch this spring and a TD every 4 times he touched the ball, constantly displaying explosive burst and elite change of direction. Auburn’s currently a long shot here, but Caddy is working extremely hard on earning a fall OV and Pettway doesn’t plan on making a decision until much later in the process. Other teams involved with Pettway besides Auburn are UNC, Penn State, Michigan, Florida, Oregon, Alabama and Virginia. Highlights below for those interested:

The big physical back from North Carolina is a tier 1 top target for the Tigers. Watching his film, his running style and size reminds me so much of former Auburn great Stephen Davis that I sometimes think I’m watching 1994-95 highlight reels on YouTube. Hampton has a top 4 of UNC, Penn State, Auburn, and UF, however at this time it feels as though UNC is the likely landing spot for him. Highlights below for those interested:

Damari Alston is cat quick and a load to handle in the open field. Excels in the passing game and has good but not elite top end speed, but I love this kids game. Alston is currently slated to commit on July 27th as per his recent Twitter announcement, but no one seems to know who the favorite is to land him right now. Several schools like Penn State, UNC, and LSU are waiting or favored for other backs that they have higher on the board. If this is true and I believe that it is, that leaves only Auburn, FSU, GT, and Northwestern as legitimate contenders. I’m not predicting Auburn to land Alston at this time, but this is one that could get interesting. Highlights below:

Quinshon Judkins is a big physical back that shows the ability to cut on a dime and displays excellent lateral agility, vision and change of direction. I’ve been watching this young man for two plus years and I believe he’s an absolute blue chip player. Judkins at this point will be waiting until a little later in the fall to make a decision, but the teams to watch are Auburn, Florida, Ole Miss and maybe Penn State (I ultimately think this comes down to us and Ole Miss). Highlights below:

That’s it for tonight’s installment, tomorrow we talk WRs.
