First and foremost, what I type here is far from gospel and is mostly speculation and what I’d call informed opinion as opposed to intel. That said, this is exactly what I think happens next with the roster:

1. Broome, Wendell and Jaylin declare for the draft so as to test where they stand with pro scouts. I feel solid that all 3 of those return, with Wendall being the wild card if he decides he’s ready to play Euro ball or in the G-League (similar logic to Jared Harper in that he can’t improve his draft stock any further at this point).

2. Allen Flanigan makes a decision to either return or turn pro. The overwhelming sentiment by certain people to this point is that Flan is leaving, but I’m not 100 percent that’s accurate (I’d treat as 65% to 35% percent odds he’s leaving but I think the thought of staying has gone up recently). Regardless, what Flanny does will drive how we treat Wing recruiting in the portal and what I can say for Flanigan is this, while highly criticized this season he was far and away our best Wing defender and most explosive athlete. Without knowing who’s going to be available in the portal, I’d personally prefer that Al return.

3. Decisions for guys who’ve never transferred will also be on the docket. If JB and JWill return as your starting 5 & 4 as I suspect, how does that change how Cardwell, C-Mo and Traore see their place on the roster. I could make a case for all 3 returning and can definitely see that as a possible outcome, but I think it’s more likely that one of those 3 decides they want more playing time to better showcase their skillset and will enter the portal.

4. Stretch departs whether it’s in the portal or just graduates and moves on in life. I also believe we get our scholarship back on from the NCAA penalties, so at a minimum we are shopping in the portal with two scholarships available as of now.

5. In the end I think we go portal hunting and will have 4-5 scholarships available when it’s all said and done. I don’t think it happens, but I personally believe it would be best for both parties if KD Johnson moved on as I just don’t think the juice is worth the squeeze with him. As a disclaimer, what I just posted about KD is my own personal opinion..
