I guess it's easy to pass yourself off as an expert of a sport that very few others have ever cared to follow. Tiger may follow softball more than the casual male but he is far from an expert. He proved that by calling Rachel Walters our 3rd best pitcher about a week before she became our Ace in the middle of the season. Go check out her stats especially in the SEC. She cooled off the last few weeks and that's when Marcy stepped up while Lexi was also struggling. The Myers' do a great job of mixing and matching our pitching. It would be great to have an elite pitcher we could ride through post season but that has never been the makeup of our team.
The fact that we are winning close games with pitching and defense will prove very valuable to our post season run. Great pitching beats great hitting in softball too. The bama and LSU series proved that and we managed to go 3-3 against those teams. We are as tested as any team in the country and if our bats do come alive look out. But anyone who expects us to score 9 a game against elite pitching just doesn't understand the game.
I don't claim to be a softball expert but I have umpired fast pitch for 7 years now and I really enjoy the college game and especially following the Lady Tigers.
