If so, what does it actually do that is worth the fee? My wife received a letter in the mail today from Chase that said that they declined to issue a credit card that she applied for because they could not verify her identity. This is a good piece of information to be informed of since she didn’t apply for a card. This got me wondering if we are just lame by not having credit protection or if it really is a waste of money. I’ve assumed it was like this Home Title Lock scam where they try to sell you protection from someone stealing title to your home and mortgaging it which seems to me would be virtually impossible with the complexity of an actual mortgage closing
