Is coming out in August.
He was on Finebaum today talking about his new book on the 2004 season. A few highlights of the interview…
* He and his son attended the Auburn/Alabama game. His son plans to attend Auburn. Al said he couldn’t believe how many people recognized him and he felt like he had never left. He decided when he got back home it was time to write the book.
* Al said that 2004 team was very special and they just wouldn’t be denied. He said they were confident they would win every game.
* He said he is bias, but he believes that 2004 team would have beat USC and Oklahoma. He believes Auburn should have been named the NC after USC got into trouble. He talks about it in the book.
* Paul said Auburn had the Terry Bowden issue, then Jetgate, they fired Gus Malzahn and now the Bryan Harsin incident. What are your thoughts on the often dysfunctionality of the Auburn University Football operation? Al said it’s because they care a lot at Auburn about their football and because they care, it’s often volatile. If things are going great, there is not a better place to be. If things aren’t going well there can be a lot tumultuous activity. Al said…hasn’t the same things happened at Alabama? They’ve been calm the last 15 years that Nick has been there, but it wasn’t good the years before. You just have a state that cares about football. Finebaum changed the subject. He would have loved for Al to bash the boosters at Auburn.
