For reasons like TV moguls' perception of softball World Series matchups, maybe recovering from market share dynamics like failed Bud Light branding (like a blonde P named Montana being set up to be on TV more games). Fouts gets checked out by a B'ham orthopedic specialist today, all the best to her. But if she's in doubt for postseason play, it will be a sh** sammich the Selection Cmte deserves.
Signal: AU fans (if the Bunk is a barometer) are seriously emotionally invested, and outraged, at the level in the past may have only occurred in AU baseball. That's significant, and the ladies should take notice, with pride. If the girls can get some MoJo going at Clemmy and play with anger, they'll run that Regional and face the Goliath in the Super Regional. All odds on Okey, sure. But it doesn't approach "impossible" territory given Penta.
So while it's on point outrage to have deserved a home regional, for the fans, for the girls, at this point where every team controls its destiny by WINNING, the outrage is noise. What we'll learn is to what extent Mickey Dean has motivational coaching chops to convert this screw job into a team playing with enormous focus, and controlled anger. The girls are well capable of it.
As for the AU baseball team, good God, what a massive turnaround. The nice thing is, the way they're dominating in pitching, defense, and timely hitting, playing on the road won't rattle these kids. Hope to see the hot streak continue through Mizzou, and a couple of games or more in B'ham. Might be one the hottest 2-3 teams in college baseball right now. Didn't see that coming a month ago!
Signal: If you can run rule top ranked LSU in winning that series, win a series at South Carolina, and absolutely crush Ole Miss this past weekend in a sweep, you're not a team that any coach would prefer to face in postseason. Butch may be painting his career Rembrandt here, we shall see, despite not having Gonzo in the mix.
