I saw late yesterday that legendary rock band Aerosmith have cancelled the rest of their current tour dates and announced their retirement from doing live shows due to the severity of lead singer Steven Tyler's vocal chord injuries and issues. He apparently suffered some sort of vocal injury about a year ago and just can't get back to what he and the band think is good enough to continue doing live shows.

Tyler has had a history of vocal issues the past 20 years or so. I remember I was going to see them at Oak Mountain in the early 00's and security was turning people around at the entrance to the amphitheater saying that night's show had suddenly been cancelled because Steven Tyler had laryngitis or some kind of vocal issues and couldn't perform.

Tyler is currently 76 years old, and lead guitarist Joe Perry is 73.

It really sucks as a classic rock fan of bands that formed in the 70s and 80s that a lot of them are now retiring or are carrying on with so many new faces that they are more a tribute band than anything else.
