Marshall still the top candidate for spuat. Well "top choice." So that says nothing about his interest. I still don't think he will make that move. Even for a fat raise. I bet he's pretty comfortable making 1.75 million a year. Would another couple million be good? Sure, but it isn't like he would go from being just ok to super rich. If he's happy at Wichita St., why leave?
Crean looks to be out. Shaka Smart is the second choice and does have interest. I think that would be a very good hire, but it would take him a couple of years to gets foothold. Bruce and Chuck Person may eat him alive in recruiting. He may end up so far behind that he can't catch up.
And what's to say he's a better coach than Grant was at VCU.
I like Smart, but he wouldn't scare me (or anyone in the SEC) at all.
