Just in case y'all need to explain this to your UGA friends ...
For several years now, there's been an endemic in college and high school football of turf monster attacks. Now you may think I'm crazy, but anyone who has played the game knows turf monsters exist. You can't see them and they strike really fast, but they are a particular type of rodent or pest of some sort that inhabits football turf. In my day only players could see them, but these days coaches on the sideline usually notice them first. You'll often see players look to the sideline to find a coach jumping up and down sending them the secret signal that says "man, watch out, there's a turf monster coming right for you."
While they have always been around and known to attack football players between snaps, something about no-huddle offenses has provoked them to being far more aggressive.
Video of a turf monster attack on Auburn's Mosiah Nasili-Kite yesterday at JHS has gone viral, and it seems to have particularly confused UGA fans.
Now we all know UGA fans are prone to only recall watching games their team wins, so if you have anyone asking you what happened to Nasili-Kite, just remind them turf monsters exist and share this video with them of the much slower attack on UGA LB Leonard Floyd at Clemson in 2013. In that case, Floyd initally doesn't even realize he's being attacked, but once teammate Damian Swann says, "look man, I'm gonna point to the sideline, but don't look down, a turf monster is about to get you," Floyd says "what?" and looks down, and lo and behold that turf monster just jumps up and gets him.
Please make sure and share this and explain to your UGA friends so they know turf monsters have been a universal problem for several years that we have to address and protect these kids, but they don't just happen at Jordan-Hare. You're in danger anywhere football is played.
